Submitting an Abstract  

Please note that each Abstract will be reviewed by the Program Organising Committee to ensure that it meets the requirements for scientific merit and original data. 

Important Note: It is a condition of having your Abstract accepted and included in the Conference Program that you are a registered and paid delegate. 

The registration system encourages you to register at the same time as submitting your abstract, but it is not essential – you are able to submit an abstract without completing the registration process at this time. 

During the submission process, you will be asked to confirm you have read and understood the requirements of ANZOS.  

Please carefully read over further information below regarding abstract submission. 

Abstract submissions are welcome for the following presentation types:

  • Oral Presentation 

  • Poster Presentation 

  • Plenary Poster 

Formatting your Abstract

Abstracts should be formatted as follows:

  • Paper Title 

  • Full Author List

  • List of Author affiliations and country 

  • The abstract, without subheadings, should be in the following form: Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusion. 

  • Overall word count, excluding titles and affiliations must not exceed 300 words. 

  • Descriptive text including tables can be added in as a supporting document alongside your abstract however these can only be added in as an Image.

  • Cite references in numeric order in parentheses according to first mention in the text.

  • Please note, any conflicts of interest need to be declared during the submission process. An abstract is not to be used as advertising any specific product or service.

General Information

    • Please note that some requests for talks may need to be moved to poster presentations.

    • Note that your abstract will not be included in the program if you do not register and pay for your registration.

    The submission process is online from the same profile you create for registration. It will work with any contemporary browser and the system will let you know if there is a problem with your browser version.

    Are you using one of the following browsers? INTERNET EXPLORER (ver 5.5 or newer) NETSCAPE (ver 7.4 or newer) or MOZILLA (ver 1.3 or newer)

    If not the screen will tell you if it detects you are using the wrong software and you would be better to change to a computer with one of the above browsers installed.

    Is your abstract open and running on your own computer? – You need to be able to cut and paste it onto the web. (Note that keypad short cuts do not work with Mozilla, you need to use the Menu, Edit, Paste command to paste in text to your submission).

    The benefits of this system are many but include: i. Allowing you to preview your abstract and make modifications to your satisfaction. ii. Ensuring you know your lodgement is completed as you will receive an immediate email confirmation iii. Ensuring accurate indexing of all authors in the abstract book iv. Ensuring consistent presentation of all abstracts in the proceedings (overarching formatting is imposed).

    Note that your abstract will not be included in the program if you do not register and pay for your registration.

  • Abstracts cannot contain more than 300 words in the main body of the abstract. The word limit does not include data within the heading and authorship details.

    • Abstracts can be submitted for either oral or poster presentation.

    • You can include one graphic, table or figure within the main body of your abstract. (This must be uploaded as a JPEG image. TIFF files will not display)

    • Please note, it is possible that some requests for an oral presentation may receive a poster (or plenary poster) presentation.

    • You can nominate for your abstract's content to not be published online during the submission process.

    The submission process is online from the same profile you create for registration. It will work with any contemporary browser and the system will let you know if there is a problem with your browser version. When ready, you should open your document so you can cut and paste into the online system. Please do not work from .pdf files. The steps are straight forward and the abstract builds online as you paste in so you can check it is as you wish.

    • The first step in uploading your abstract is to record your personal details on your own 'dashboard'. If you have already completed it for your registration or another ASN event, you will not have to repeat this, just login to your 'dashboard' as a returning delegate. As you complete your registration you will receive a confirmation email. Your will be able to upload your abstract via your personal "dashboard". You can use your email and password to access your abstract at any time. If you do not remember your email or password, please contact ASN Events.

    • The presenting author must be the person submitting the abstract and they must do this from their own 'dashboard'

    • You will receive a confirmation email with after your Abstract Submission has been successfully submitted. You can view or edit your abstract by returning to your dashboard. If you do not receive this confirmation email, please contact ASN Events.

    • Abstracts can be submitted for either oral or poster presentation. Please note that some requests for talks may need to be moved to poster presentations.

  • Yes you can edit your submission (including Title, Content, Authors or Presenting author) after you have submitted it, you can do this up until the Submission deadline. To do so, please log into your online registration dashboard. Click on Abstracts tab and then on the “View submission" to edit the abstract. You will be able to select the areas to edit via the horizontal menus.

  • Notification of programming decisions will come from the secretariat shortly after the expiry of deadlines and the working program will be posted to the website. It will also appear on your own ‘dashboard’. The notification will include specific presentation instructions.
